Behind what looks like a classic Italian pizzeria there is the Japanese chef Rie Yasui, who once manage the Carme Ruscalleda's prestigious restaurant called Sant Pau. Nonna María serves gourmet and traditional pizzas, as well as an extensive menu of starters and desserts.
Mass is between thin, crunchy and spongy, it's fermented throughout a day and covered with ingredients that can go from teriyaki sauce to avocado that give Nonna Maria's pizzas a special touch. Chef Marc Dinarés is responsible for this, 'pizzaiollo' in chief who at the age of 18 won the award for best young Catalan chef. As added, each month a variety is introduced by a prestigious chef friend of Rie Yasui; the first was Carme Ruscalleda.
The place is located in the Barcelona district of Sarrià, in the upper part of the city. The decoration is minimalist and with wood touches, which gives it an intimate and pleasant atmosphere, perfect for dinner as a couple or eating with friends.
